Frequently asked questions
Clear answers about what MasteryCue does, what it does not do, and how the system handles evidence, recommendations, privacy, and MTSS.
Which assessment reports can I use?
Supported examples include IXL Score Grid, MAP Growth, aimswebPlus, and classroom assessment exports, alongside rosters and curriculum maps. Formats vary by report. Selected Star Reading/Math, i-Ready Diagnostic, and mCLASS/DIBELS CSV or Excel layouts are beta diagnostic paths; format coverage and full upload-to-recommendation verification are still in progress. These are file imports, not direct vendor connections, and diagnostic scores do not establish mastery of an individual standard.
Can I try MasteryCue before paying?
Yes. New teacher accounts receive one 14-day free trial at signup. Start with a fictional sample class or your own authorized classroom data. The trial ends without an automatic charge. Choose $12.99/month or $99/year only if you want to continue.
What does the teacher workspace include?
Review skill-based groups, whole-class lesson plans, 15-minute small-group routines, verified IXL matches where available, learner evidence, MTSS/support records, conference reports, and printable lesson packets. The same teacher features are included in either paid plan.
How are whole-class and small-group plans different?
Whole-class plans include a bell ringer, I do, We do, You do, and an exit ticket. Small-group routines use a separate 15-minute format: a 2-minute diagnostic, 8 minutes of targeted modeling and guided practice, and a 5-minute independent check. Tier 2 placement remains a teacher/school-team decision.
Are passages and questions included for every target?
The complete Grade 5 sample and prepared main-idea examples include original texts, prompts, and answer guidance. Other targets may use the materials in your current curriculum. Every plan should be reviewed for its standard, preparation, and expected response before teaching.
Can I print weekly plans and daily sub plans?
Yes. Open the lesson's Daily / sub plan or Weekly lesson plans control, then Print / save PDF. Weekly plans draft daily allocations from the selected class's matched curriculum map and flag unmatched dates. Review school days, daily pacing, and materials before use.
Can I record instruction when I use my own lesson?
Yes. Record your own instruction, supports, notes, and progress checks in the learner's support record. Recording a MasteryCue lesson also captures the selected date, target, learners, and actual minutes you report.
Why should I trust a MasteryCue recommendation?
MasteryCue is designed to show the evidence trail behind a recommendation rather than asking teachers to accept an unexplained answer. Recommendations are based on skill-aligned evidence, confidence, recency, corroboration, curriculum context, and instructional need. When the evidence is not strong enough, MasteryCue can return Need Evidence instead of pretending to know.
Does MasteryCue decide that a student belongs in Tier 2 or MTSS?
No. MasteryCue may surface a learner as a stronger Tier 2 review candidate when the evidence pattern warrants closer review, but it does not diagnose, determine eligibility, or automatically enroll a student in intervention. The school team remains responsible for MTSS and intervention decisions.
What is the difference between normal classroom support and Tier 2 review?
A student may need a scaffold, reteach, or small-group lesson as part of normal Tier 1 instruction. A stronger Tier 2 review signal generally requires a more persistent pattern, relevant progress-monitoring evidence, and enough confidence to justify human review. MasteryCue keeps those states separate.
Does aimswebPlus feed into MTSS information?
When aimswebPlus evidence is uploaded and safely matched, it can contribute progress-monitoring context for MTSS review and intervention-plan monitoring. It is not treated as an automatic placement decision.
Does MasteryCue use AI to make decisions?
MasteryCue uses software-based analysis and recommendation logic to organize evidence and suggest instructional actions. It is not intended to replace professional educator judgment. The system keeps rationale and uncertainty visible so educators can review the recommendation.
What happens if MasteryCue does not recognize my uploaded report?
Unfamiliar evidence can be held for review. Teachers can classify the evidence type, score meaning, learner, skill, and date when needed. Unresolved or ambiguous rows do not silently influence mastery or recommendations.
How do you protect student information?
MasteryCue uses role-based access, tenant isolation, private file storage, managed encryption, server-side credentials, audit and monitoring controls, and privacy-safe operational reporting. We do not sell student personal information or use student data for targeted advertising.
How long is data kept?
Retention depends on record type, contractual requirements, operational security needs, and applicable law. Authorized schools can request export or deletion, and student data is returned or deleted according to the applicable agreement and documented retention process.
Which standards are supported?
MasteryCue supports K–12 ELA, mathematics, science, and social studies across all 50 states. Course-scoped high-school standards are preserved where course identity matters, and missing or incompatible mappings are designed to fail closed rather than silently substituting another framework.
What does the teacher plan cost?
New accounts can try MasteryCue free for 14 days. Continue for $12.99/month or $99/year only if you choose to upgrade. Both paid plans include the same teacher features and renew until canceled. School and district pricing is scoped separately.
