Data Retention & Deletion

Effective and last updated: October 4, 2026

MasteryCue retains information only for legitimate educational, operational, contractual, security, and legal purposes. Retention is based on record type and the agreement governing the account; we do not claim that every record follows one universal deletion period.

School and student data

Student records are controlled by the school or district that provides them. Authorized customers may request export or deletion, subject to identity verification, contractual requirements, and applicable law. MasteryCue does not keep student records for unrelated advertising or resale.

Uploaded files

Teacher and school uploads are stored in private storage and are used to validate, normalize, and support the requested instructional workflow. Failed or unresolved imports do not silently become instructional evidence. Deletion of source files and derived records follows the account, contract, and applicable retention requirements.

Operational records

Security logs, billing records, audit events, and limited support records may be retained longer than classroom working data when needed for fraud prevention, incident response, accounting, contractual enforcement, or legal obligations. Operational monitoring is designed to avoid storing unnecessary student PII.

Backups

Managed infrastructure may retain encrypted backup copies for a limited rotation period after primary records are deleted. Backup copies are not used as active product data and expire through the provider's controlled backup lifecycle.

Account termination

When an agreement ends, MasteryCue will return or delete student information according to the applicable agreement and documented process, except where a limited record must be retained by law or for legitimate security, billing, or dispute-resolution purposes.

Requests

Schools and authorized account owners may request access, export, correction, or deletion through MasteryCue support. Student and parent requests should normally be directed through the school so identity and educational-record authority can be verified.
